New Kids on The block..

I am really excited, Me my sister our friends Stephanie, Mindy and Jackie are going to see NKOTB in concert on November fifteenth at the E center in West Valley. They have only been to Utah in concert once and that was when I was seventeen. I can't believe that they are back together, it is crazy but I am really excited it brings back so many fun and crazy memories. I am going to be thirty Five when I see them this time, lets see if I can hold on to my dignity this time. All I know is that I am excited that I am going to be able to buy a shirt at there concert and be able to wear it. It's going to be so nice!

Three Month Check up…..

I was really nervous last week about having to go up and see Dr. Belnap; I don’t know why I was nervous but I was. Well I was a little nervous because I thought that wasn’t doing good enough and that he was going to be disappointed in me. They kept telling me that I was going to be one of his Success stories; but for some reason I was just thinking that I wasn’t doing very good.

Well I got up there last night and I sat and waited for two and a half hours before I got to see him; but he was very happy with how well I was doing. He wants me to up my work out a little bit; but other than that I am doing good. He seemed to be very happy that I had lost one hundred and twelve pounds. I have to call and make an appointment for my sixth month on Monday.

I am excited that I am doing so well and that I am doing as good as I am doing. I told him that I lifted weights on Friday and that my arms are killing me; he told me that I am not to lift weights! He wants to me focus on cardiovascular; he wants my heart rate over one hundred and forty, because the higher your heart rate the better the work out, the more you are going to loose. So this next week at the gym I am going to work on my Cardio workout. I know that the weeks that I work out harder, I loose more weight.

I just need to find my balance and go with it. I need to do what works for me; They keep telling me that you need to change your work out for it too work. Well last night Belnap told me that if I like riding the bike to stick to it. To do what I like to do that it will help me want to work out. But on Friday I walked on the Treadmill and I only rode it for ten minutes but it went really fast.

I sit and think about my life now and the changes that have occurred and I am really happy with the decision that I made to have a gastric bypass. I never thought that I would ever be skinny and I am so excited I can’t wait until I am skinny. I deserve to be skinny, life has been hard and I have gone through a lot. People are never happy with your appearance, if you are too fat or too skinny; if you are pretty or ugly; it doesn’t matter you are ridiculed and put down for who and what you are. I have learned that all that matters is how you feel about and see your self. That is all that is important; nothing anybody else says or things matters.

If I listened to what other people thought and said, I would not have had my surgery and I wouldn’t be were I am today. In fact I would hate to see where I would be. I know that I was healthy but with my weight what it, it wasn’t going to stay that way for ever. All I know is that I have been given a second chance at life and I am really enjoying it.

I am grateful that I have such wonderful friends and family that are really supportive; It has made things a lot easier for me. I hope that if there is any thing that I can do to help you with your weight loss questions don’t be afraid to ask. I don’t know a whole lot but I am learning and I will pass any information I get on too all of you in the hopes that it will help. I know that not every ones needs too loose weight but it never hurts to watch what we eat and try to be a little healthier. You are all great and I love you all, good luck in all your endeavors and I look forward to hearing how you are all doing.

Life is Lovely….

Well I went to the doctor this afternoon for my migraines and to talk to him about birth control. Dr Belnap doesn’t want me to get pregnant for two years; he wants to make sure that I am recovered and that it is safe for me to have a baby. I don’t think that I need it; I have faith that I wont get pregnant until it is my time, and I know that if I were to get pregnant that everything would be how its was supposed to be. But I will do what the surgeon wants me to do.

I know that I say it all the time; I feel so good I can’t believe all of the wonderful changes that I am going through, it is amazing. I have never been so happy; I am not saying that loosing weight is making me happy I am saying that being healthier and not being in nearly as much pain makes life so much easier. I can’t believe that I can also go to the gym and push my self to the point that I think that I would die, and I actually feel great!

I know that I had a lot of friends and family who did not want me to have this surgery; but it is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I have a quality of life that I haven’t had in a long time and it is incredible. I am happy with the results and I don’t regret one minute of it. There are times when some thing happens and it makes life difficult and I wish that there was an easier way to deal with things, but as soon as the problem passes everything’s better; I have my ups and downs but in the whole life’s
Great!

I had one of the best surgeons in the Midwest; he is a wonderful compassionate, kind and caring man. I know that he cares about me and that he loves me and only wants’ what’s best for me. I am glad that I chose to go to Legrand Belnap and I would tell any one that was talking about having a gastric bypass to go to him. I also had a wonderful experience at ST. Marks Hospital and would go back there for anything that I needed to have done.

Thank you all for the love and support that you have shown me, it means a lot to me and it has helped so much. Thank you!

What a Week….

This was one of those weeks when I wish that I hadn’t had surgery. I got a migraine headache Tuesday at work and I really thought that I was going to die; I was in so much pain, I was light headed and I threw up three times. Every time I stood up I thought that I was going to pass out. I figured that I would get up the next morning and would feel better, No I wasn’t that lucky. I called Dr. Belnap’s office and asked Vikki what I should do or what I could take and she suggested that I called my family doctor and ask him if he would call me in a prescription of a Migraine medication. Well I did and all he would give me was Loretab; I wasn’t very happy about it but I went and picked it up and took one last night. I woke up with a bit of a headache still and my eyes hurt; but the longer the day went on the better it felt, thank goodness that it is gone.

Well, I should probably not get to excited about the headache being gone because it could come back when I least expect it.

I am going to go off a tangent about Wal-Mart for a minute; can I tell you that I can not stand that store! I don’t care how cheap they are I would not shop there if it weren’t for Mark. They are cheap and he thinks that we should save a penny or so on something rather than go to another store and spend more than is needed. I agree I am all for saving a buck because eating healthy isn’t cheap; granted I save more going to Wal-Mart than going any where else, even on prescriptions.

This is what I want to talk about; my doctor called my prescription in yesterday morning at nine O’clock, when I got there to pick it up at three thirty they hadn’t even filled it yet. To say the least I was mad, not only did I not feel good I was nauseated and I thought that I was going to pass out. They told me twenty minutes; well twenty five minutes later I went back over to pick it up, they still hadn’t filled! Needless to say at this point I was beyond mad; and I stood there and didn’t say anything to the lady working the counter because if I would have it would have been nasty and then they would have asked me not to come back to there pharmacy. I finally got it and headed for home; so you could say that this has not been a good week I am glad that it is over.

I will get up and weigh in the morning and have my mom take my measurements and let all of you know how it is going. Thank you all for the love and support, it means a lot to me!

Ciao!

Random thoughts…

There isn’t a whole lot I can say about my weight loss right now with out sounding like a broken record. There are only so many things that can say to describe how you feel; how your life has changed so much. There are so many things that I want to say to Dr. Belnap; to tell him thank you for the chance at life he has given me and how very grateful I am for everything that he has done for me, it is amazing.

I can not begin to tell all of you how wonderful I feel; and about the miraculous changes that have occurred since I had surgery. I have noticed a lot of changes with my body, granted my knees and feet still hurt but I know that is because I need to have surgery on them; it isn’t because of my weight that they hurt, but my back no longer hurts and that is awesome!

I am tired all of the time but I have been told that; that will get better with time. It seems that the nights that I go to the gym it doesn’t matter what time I go to bed it is never early enough, especially if I lift weights I am really tiered and it takes two days catch up on sleep. But I feel better after I’ve worked out; it is a great feeling when you are sore after a good work out, there is nothing better.

I also having to say that the love and support that I have gotten from all of my wonderful friends and family has been great. There are days that I didn’t think that I was going to make it through and then I would get on my blog and read the comments from all of you and it made things so much better. Thank you all for so much.

I am now down to one hundred and six pounds and it is like a dream, I have never lost this much weight at once. I am looking to the future and the only experiences that lay a head of me. There are so many things that I am looking forward to doing and I can’t wait to start doing them.

Thank you all so much for the love and support.

Dieters - Are You Starving Or Dieting?

May be you have experienced as a dieter that even after starving yourself while implementing the diet, you have lost weight, but to your disappointment you have regained it once you begin your regular diets. To deal with such a condition, you need to find an alternative and it can be an option that handles your metabolism. By starving, the obvious problems are exhaustion and dearth of energy, as your body is not getting enough nutrients for regular functioning.
Phentramin-D should be considered as your diet supplement, to deal with energy crisis.

Phentramin-D works by preventing your metabolism from slowing down while you are not eating enough. Hence it helps maintains the energy levels your body needs to remain productive.. This diet pill has proved it's worth and given positive results for many people. Once you go back on your regular diet after attaining the desired weight, you do not tend to regain the lost weight. This is the major advantage of this method. Many people, though want to and even need to loose weight do not opt for dieting at all. When they cut down on their food intake, they find it difficult to control their hunger and cannot starve. Hunger pangs can be excruciatingly (worse than the average stomach poisoning) painful and are usually the reason for diet plans not succeeding in many cases. Hoodia Gorfonii is the right choice if you belong to these group of people who cannot overcome the pain and control their desire to eat. Hoodia Gorfonii inhibits hunger pangs.

The obvious effect is you do not feel hungry and hence are no longer in pain due to regulated food intake. The list has Hoodia Gorfonii, Xental, Proactol, and Phentramin-D at the top and are considered to be the best. As these three methods take care of the most common problems with diets and hence increase their success ratio. These methods have proven track record to solve the problems and facilitate the much needed diet program for many people.

The Century Club…

I have hit my biggest land mark to date! I got up this morning and was actually excited about getting on the scale and weighing; last week I had lost ninety nine point six pounds I was very frustrated because I was so close to one hundred pounds. Well I have finally hit it I got on the scale this morning and was down six pounds; so that makes a total of one hundred and five pounds. (The weight loss tracker on the bottom is off because I forgot to add a pound to it one week)

It is such a good feeling to have lost that much weight; I never thought that I could do it, it is amazing. I am so grateful that I chose to have a Gastric Bypass; I feel like I have been given my life back and it is the best feeling in the world. I only have one hundred and thirty pounds before I hit my goal weight and that is also a great feeling.

For so many years I thought that being over weight was going to be my fate; I didn’t think that I was ever going to be able to loose my weight. I thought that I would die some day like my grandmother; I know with all my heart that this is not the life that she would want for me. I want her to always be proud of me and making this decision was very hard for me. I knew that I wanted to do it but it was such an important life changing decision that I wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing. I also knew that what ever I decided she was supportive and happy for me.

I will never be able to find the right words to thank Dr. Belnap for everything that he has done for me. For the new chance at life that he has helped me to achieve; he is one of the most loving and compassionate men that I have ever met and I am so glad that he is the one that performed my procedure.

There have already been so many changes in my life; I feel better about my self, I like to look and dress my best. I like to feel pretty, I feel good about myself and I want people to see that and see me for the person that I am. I also love to go and do things now days; I love being out in the sun, I love the feel of the sun on my skin and I love the feel of the spring heat. I think that I may like the heat because I am always cold these days; and the heat is not as unbearable as it was one hundred and five pounds ago.

I want to thank you all again for the love and support that all of you have given me. It means a lot to me and I appreciate it so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart; this is an amazing journey and I am glad that I have so many wonderful and support friends and family. You are all the greatest!

Gastric Bypass Surgeries And Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, (PCOS), is a metabolic disorder where undeveloped follicles collect on the ovaries causing a hormonal imbalance. This imbalance can affect fertility, increase body hair on some areas and thin hair in other regions. Sufferers have excessive fat around the midsection which they find difficult if not impossible to lose.

PCOS patients also tend to have insulin resistance or diabetes. Obesity is one of the listed causes of PCOS, but PCOS can also be the reason for the obesity. Gastric bypass offers an end to that catch 22.

Normally during a menstrual cycle, follicles grow within the ovaries and eggs develop within the follicles. The fastest egg to reach maturity will be released into the fallopian tube to await fertilization. The remaining follicles will degenerate.

If the egg isn't fertilized, it happens again the next month. After a while the polycystic ovary will take on a grape-cluster appearance. The over abundance of follicles stimulate the hormones and create an imbalance inside the female body.

In PCOS, degeneration of the excess follicles doesn't happen. When weight is lost, it is thought to somehow help degenerate the follicles instead of leaving them undeveloped. Gastric bypass surgery enables the PCOS sufferer to lose weight. Many times, when the excess weight is lost, the ovaries will return to normal and the symptoms of the syndrome will subside. Hormones will balance out and the woman can conceive.

Losing weight with gastric bypass surgery has also been linked to the spontaneous reduction of diabetic issues and pre-diabetes, also known as insulin resistance. Insulin resistance and diabetes happens when the body does not properly utilize insulin and too much sugar builds up. When the body is rid of extra weight, it can better manage it's insulin.

Opponents of using gastric bypass with PCOS patients argue that it is not safe with women who want to have children. The gastric bypass diet is unable to provide enough nutrition to a pregnant woman's body and fetus and could cause an unhealthy pregnancy.

Supporters state there is a higher risk of complications, such as gestational diabetes, which they say is more likely to harm the fetus in obese women than gastric bypass patients. Ultimately, this will have to be a personal decision. If you choose to have gastric bypass surgery, then you become pregnant, your diet should consist of many small meals of proteins, fruits, veggies, and calcium supplements. Your doctor should closely monitor your health, and you should carefully follow her dietary advice.

In conclusion, PCOS can sometimes be effectively managed with gastric bypass surgery, but it isn't a "cure" for everyone. The surgery is major and life altering, and there are always risks.
Gastric bypass surgery should only be performed on individuals who have given an honest effort at dieting and exercise. Women who want children should carefully consider their options and the possible consequences of their chosen actions. If the benefits outweigh the risks, then gastric bypass may be the right choice.

Gastric bypass surgeries have both benefits and risks. To learn more the illnesses that may qualify you for weight loss surgery, and to learn about the complications and costs, visit http://www.1GastricBypass.com

3 Powerful Ways to Speed Up Your Metabolism and Weight Loss

"Help, my metabolism is drooping!" Oh-oh, that means weight gain. How about utilizing some metabolism boosters to get that drooping metabolism up to where it helps you lose weight instead of causing you to gain weight?

Metabolism boosters are more than just pills. They are anything that will speed up your metabolic rate (the speed at which your body burns calories).

You want a faster metabolism because the faster your body burns calories, the more weight and fat you lose. That's a good thing.

Simply put, fat is created by the excess calories that your body does not burn through daily activity. If you use up more calories than you take in, then your body is forced to burn fat (instead of store it) in order to function. That is what causes weight and fat loss. Make sense?

Most people already know that you need a good diet and weight-loss exercise program to lose weight.

However, the most overlooked way to lose weight faster is to speed up your metabolism. Once you have created a fast metabolism, it will be easier to lose weight. A faster metabolism causes the body to burn more fat, even while you are sleeping.

So let's get down to the nitty-gritty of how to speed up your metabolic rate with the following metabolism boosters.

Metabolism Boosters - 3 Ways To Increase Your Metabolic Rate

1. Avoid refined sugar.

We all know that, if you are trying to lose weight, refined sugar and simple carbohydrates equal weight-loss suicide. However, did you know that they also cause extra damage to your weight-loss efforts through the slowing of your metabolism?

So, replace refined sugar with healthy carbohydrates:

Wild rice
Brown rice
Barley
Oats
Quinoa
Whole wheat (not too much)
Vegetables
Fruit

Etc. 2. Stay physically active.

Activity is a great metabolism booster...it increases your metabolic rate naturally. We were not created to be couch potatoes. Our bodies were made to move and be active.

Why is our nation having these incredible weight and health problems that didn't exist a century ago? What's the difference between how we live now and how they lived then? We have become a sitting and watching society instead of a moving and participating society. So keep your body moving for faster and healthier weight loss.

Exercise increases muscle tone and burns calories at the same time. A good exercise program will increase your metabolic rate, and your health.

Proper weight-resistant exercises are great metabolism boosters for both men and women. Many women are afraid that if they use weights they will end up looking manly. But you don't have to worry about that. You were not designed to have big muscles like a man. Women who do are exercising excessively and may be taking a little something to get those large muscles.

Firmer muscles will turn your body into a fat-burning machine...even while you sleep. Did you know that, on the average, a pound of muscle burns approximately 50 calories a day compared to a pound of body fat that burns only around 2 calories a day.

3. Eat a metabolism-booster breakfast.

Get your day started off right with a metabolism-booster breakfast.

Here's what I do. My daily breakfast includes oatmeal with dried cranberries (no sugar) and egg whites. I have been eating this way for years and always have a high energy level.

Some people might get bored with a breakfast like that, but I enjoy the benefits too much to give it up. Well, I do cheat occasionally. I eat eggs, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy once a week when my wife and I go out to breakfast after church. I have such a high metabolism through regular exercise and eating right that my occasional "binges" don't even come close to causing me any problems.

The above information should get you started on increasing your metabolism. Stick in there and never, never, never give up! Best wishes for faster and healthier weight loss.

Is Gastric Bypass Right for You?

Gastric bypass is a form of weight-loss surgery done on a lot of Americans today. The reason is because more and more Americans are suffering from obesity and excessive weight problems. In some cases, a gastric bypass is the only way to make losing weight possible. For most of us, gastric bypass is merely an option. The American Society for Bariatric Surgery reports that there were more than 63,000 of such surgeries being done in the United States alone in the year 2002.

However, it is important to note that a Gastric Bypass is not the right surgery for everyone. Think carefully because a gastric bypass is a very important surgery. It is not the magical solution to your weight problems and you will need to do extensive research before you commit to it. We have to emphasize that Gastric Bypass has a very high rate of complications although the procedure may sound relatively simple and effortless. Most doctors who perform gastric bypass would advise the patient to undergo a low-calorie diet for at least 6 months before they go for gastric bypass surgery. Undergoing a gastric bypass surgery, you may have to bear with the consequence of a possible life-threatening complication as a result of the gastric bypass surgery. Your doctor would be in the best position to advice you on whether you’re right for gastric bypass. Emotional and physical issues may have to be taken into account because this is essential to your recovery after the gastric bypass surgery.

However, because of the many possible dangers of undergoing a gastric bypass surgery, the Bariatrics Society designed and launched a program called the mini gastric bypass surgery. The mini gastric bypass surgeries are the less extensive versions of the more commonly used gastric bypass surgery. The mini gastric bypass surgery actually reconfigures the stomach so that absorption of food is reduced irregardless of how much food that person consumed. A mini gastric bypass surgery also changes the way food is absorbed. The mini gastric bypass surgery takes a shorter time to perform and the recovery for the patient is quicker too. However, there aren’t that many researches and studies done on mini gastric bypass surgeries as opposed to a major gastric bypass surgeries, therefore, many insurance companies cover the major gastric bypass surgery but not the mini gastric bypass surgery!

The Many Benefits Of Getting Off The Couch And Getting Some Exercise

We all know how important it is to get up and exercise. Most of us have heard it since birth, but the truth is, far too few of us are getting any form of exercise at all. Unless you count flipping the remote as working out! Why is exercising so important anyway? Here are just a few of the many benefits that exercising can give you over the long term.

Weight Loss

This one is a biggie. The fastest and most beneficial way to lose weight is by getting regular exercise. It's simple - exercise burns calories which in turn burn fat.

We're not talking about having to go to the gym or health club and work up a big sweat. It can be as simple as a 30 minute brisk walk 3-4 times a week. Do that and you will notice the weight coming off.

Improved Health

It is a proven fact; regular exercise reduces the risk of getting diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and even cancer.

In fact, 80% of all deaths due to heart disease are caused by factors that include a lack of exercise and too much stress. Exercising works to reduce these factors and in some cases even reverses them.

Regular exercise can decrease your cholesterol levels, reduce your triglycerides and lower your blood pressure significantly. I know this firsthand in my own life.

Improved Mental Health

Regular exercise can also increase brain function and reduce mental depression. This occurs because when you work out your body releases endorphins. Endorphins increase with exercise and help to eliminate the feeling of being depressed.

Exercise will improve your overall feelings and make you a happier person. As a side benefit it evens helps you to sleep better at night.

These are just a few of the many benefits that getting out and exercising can bring to your life. Whether you are looking to lose a few extra pounds or reduce improve your overall health, exercise will always be your best solution.
